Hey there!! Boy am I loving the spring signs at Dollar Tree!! Have you seen them? I have a secret that I need to confess. Sometimes I buy the signs JUST for the metal accents!! Today I spotted a welcome sign for $3.00 and I LOVED the carrots on it, they just needed to be reworked a bit! Let me show you this Dollar Tree welcome sign easy make-over where you can create TWO projects out of one!

This was the original and I already loved the sign with word “welcome” on it so nothing to do there. BUT, those carrots are another story!!
The Carrot Make-Over…
First up I cut the jute string of each carrot from the back of the sign. Next I’ll need to remove the raffia bows and then choose a paint color.

Now I’ll paint a base of white with Waverly white chalk paint and then add some orange detail with the cutest polka dots!! I’ll use Waverly Celery for a soft touch of green on the top!!

Distress Ink in walnut works perfectly to darken the edges.

I’ll use two carrots just like this to hang together and they’ll look something like this. Such a sweet addition to a tiered tray or shelf! Carrots are so fun for spring, just like these I created from a piping bag but no-one will ever guess!!!

Finally, for the third carrot I’ll be adding it back to the welcome sign so it’ll be a little more subtle.

Since the sign is pink, I’ll paint the top of the carrot pink and soften the orange polka dots with white paint.

Lastly, I’ll use some torn material strips to tie on the top and then just glue it to the sign. I’ll also use a Dollar Tree sticker to cover the hole. Not bad for a $3.00 Dollar Tree Welcome Sign Easy Make-Over!!
