How to Create Textured Tissue Paper Eggs

Spring is on the way so I’ve been looking for pretty spring decor! I recently spotted textured eggs at a boutique that were priced about $7.00 each. If I wanted to buy five or so they would really start adding up, so I decided to try my hand at creating my own!! I found paper eggs at Walmart for $2.24 per pack of six. I think these will work perfectly for textured tissue paper eggs that we can create just in time for spring and Easter!

Preparing the eggs…

First up cut the tissue paper into squares, approximately 5 inches by 5 inches. I’ll be using four squares for each egg.

Next up we will need to cover one side of the egg with Mod Podge and lay the egg onto the tissue paper, Mod Podged side down. Use a paint brush to brush all the sides and edges of the tissue paper square down onto the egg. No worries about wrinkles because that’s what we want!! This process is SUPER easy, but a tad messy so cover your work area.

Add two squares of the tissue paper to each egg and then allow to dry down. Once this is close to dry add another square, and then finally the last square. I like to allow drying time between applications in order to prevent my fingers from sticking and pulling the layers off. Once covered, allow the eggs to dry completely.

Finally the eggs are ready to be painted. If you like an aged look Distress Ink can easily be added to these eggs.

I just love a project with good texture and these eggs turned out so pretty and much cheaper than what I would have paid buying at the store. Use any color paint you love on these and make as many as you want for groupings!! I hope you enjoyed this one friends!!
