Hey friend! Do you love an EASY holiday DIY as much as I do?? For this one I’m using an empty frame that I’ve re-purposed by adding chicken wire to the back. You can see how I created the chicken wire frame here. I use this frame year round in my home because it’s so versatile, meaning I can swap holiday themed pieces on and off very easily. This one is for Valentine’s Day and I can’t wait to show you how to create this easy tissue paper heart on a chicken wire frame.

This chicken wire frame stays out year round and I often uses a small clothespin to attach pretty calendar pages to it, so easy to swap out for different seasons. For February I have something a little different in mind using inexpensive tissue paper.
Prepping the tissue paper…
Since it’s for Valentine’s Day I’m choosing red tissue paper, but using any color for a pretty addition. I cut the tissue paper into squares that are approximately 5 inches by 5 inches. First I fold one piece of tissue paper in half. (I’m using white for the example because I had no more red.)

Then fold that piece in half again….

and again…

and one last time…

Now you’ll have sixteen 5 X 5 squares from one sheet of tissue paper. I used about forty-five of the 5 X 5 squares for my heart.
Creating the tissue paper heart….
The chicken wire is made of small squares that are perfect for this project. Take one square and use your finger or the end of a paint brush to gather just like this.

Now we are ready to insert each piece into the chicken wire and create our heart.

Start inserting the tissue paper squares in the shape of the heart. I started on the top. You can insert more pieces if you’d like the heart fuller but the single pieces fluff out well.

This is SO EASY and when Valentine’s Day is over you can simply throw the tissue paper away. If you don’t have tissue paper or can’t find the right color, napkins can be substituted as well. I added this piece to my gallery wall and I’m just so happy it!! Let me know if you plan on trying this friend!
