Valentine Wood Book Stack

Hello friends!! I’m just going to say it, I may be a little obsessed with these little book stacks that are so popular right now. You can customize them for ANY occasion so what’s not to love?? Well, in this blog post I’m going to share how to make your own, but with a different twist!! Let’s talk about how easy it is to make a Valentine wood book stack!!

Materials:

Acrylic paint – white, light pink, and red

3 faux books made from wood pallet board

Saw for cutting your “books”

paint brush

vinyl letters or stickers

sanding block

So, I had an epiphany this morning as I was about to walk out the door to go search for the small books needed for this DIY. I love to use board books for this type of project, but honestly it’s a pain trying to find three books the same size. UGH!! Well, I have a workshop with TONS of scrap wood so why not use some of it instead? I have several of these pallet board that I’ve used for other projects so I decide to give one a try.

I measure three 4 inch sections on my board and mark them. Next I use my saw to cut them. I’m not taking the time to sand them but you can for a smoother finish.

After the pieces are cut I’m ready to paint them. I’ll use acrylic paints, but you can use spray paint if you prefer. The acrylic does take a little longer to dry than spray paint.

After the paint is completely dry I’ll use a sanding block to sand and distress the edges of each “book.” For more distress you may choose to use an electric sander.

The last step is to add your lettering to the blocks. I’ll be using vinyl letters cut with a Cricut, but stickers or rub-on letters could be used as well.

Once the words are added this little Valentine wood book stack is all finished!! You guys this little DIY is cute and versatile, especially if you use vinyl lettering or stickers that can be removed. It adds a perfect touch to any valentine’s decor!
