Cardboard Star Wreath – Easy & Inexpensive

Calling all DIY home decor lovers, here’s a GREAT way to utilize cardboard to create something pretty and inexpensive for your home. Most of us have plenty of cardboard that arrives at our front doors carrying online orders, so let’s find a creative way to re-purpose it with this cardboard star wreath that’s easy and inexpensive!!

Cardboard, Dollar Tree wreath rings, star cookie cutters, and Anita's paint

All the supplies…

This DIY is inexpensive because you’re using something you probably already have on hand, cardboard. Along with the cardboard you’ll also need the following:

  • Dollar Tree 8 inch wreath
  • Red, white, and blue paint
  • One small and one large star cookie cutter
  • Hot glue
  • Moss

Once the supplies are all gathered you’re ready to get started!! First things first you’ll need to trace the stars onto the cardboard and then cut them out. This step will take the longest in this whole process but stick with it because it will be worth it!!

Secondly we want to remove that top layer of cardboard to reveal the corrugation underneath. I’ve found the easiest way to do this is to brush on a little water to dampen so the top layer peels off easily.

Now we are ready to add some paint if desired. I’m using Anita’s Acrylic in True Red, Navy Blue, and white. I’ll lay the stars out on the ring first to decide how many I want to paint each color.

Once you have all the stars painted you can start hot gluing them onto the wire frame and it will look something like this.

Now that I have the stars attached I notice I need some filler to cover the wire so I’m going to add some moss to those areas.

Once the moss is added we are finished and I’m LOVING the look of all of this corrugation!! How EASY was this?!?
