These little clay hearts are so easy to make and you probably have ALL the ingredients in your kitchen already!! I’m adding a little twist to these guys by using a Dollar Tree wall tile to make impressions in the clay. Let me show you how to make clay hearts with impressions with this easy tutorial!!
All you need….
2 Cups baking soda
1 Cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cup water
Toothpick
Paint

The first thing to do is mix the baking soda, cornstarch, and water together and bring to a low boil, stirring constantly until it reaches the consistency of mashed potatoes. Remove from heat and place in a glass bowl, cover with a damp towel and let it sit for 30 minutes in order to reach room temperature.

After the 30 minutes is up we will roll the dough out on a flat surface. I’m rolling these out to about 1/4″ thickness to prevent cracking.

Next up I’m using a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut shapes, but first I’ll be pressing the Dollar Tree wall panel (Check out another way to use the panels here!!) into the dough to make an impression.

Into the oven….

Next up we want to bake our hearts at 175 degrees, 30 minutes on each side. Before I pop these guys in the oven I’ll use a toothpick to make holes in the tops. Once they come out of the oven I’ll use the toothpick once again to push through the holes just in case they closed at all while baking.

Finally we’re ready to paint these beauties!! I’m using a pearl finish paint, DecoArt Snow White.

Add some wire to the top and the these little clay hearts with impressions are all done! You can use any shape to create these pretties!! Let me know what you think!!
