Who doesn’t love a little sparkle around the holidays?? Combining pretty decor on a budget is one of my favorite things to do, and this DIY fits the bill!! You can make this easy rustic Christmas tree with sparkle using sticks from your back yard!! It doesn’t get any cheaper than FREE!! Let me show how to make one!!

Gathering the supplies..
I’m using a Dollar Tree sign for the surface and covering it with a piece of pretty scrapbook paper.
The paper can be attached by either tracing the sign on top, cutting out, then Mod Podging, or using the Mod Podge iron on method (I use it often, even with napkins!!) which is how I’ll apply mine. I’ll iron the whole piece of paper on, then sand the edge where it needs to be trimmed off. I purchased my iron from Amazon and I’ll share my link here.
Gather your sticks…
This next part is fun!! Gather several sticks from the yard and cut them down to different lengths in order to shape a Christmas tree. Once you have the shape you like, use hot glue to attach.
Next up, dry brush the tree with white paint and then add “snow” and glitter. You can add as much or as little as you want. I like to use Waverly white chalk paint.
- 6 Tablespoons baking soda
- 2 Tablespoons white paint
- 2 Tablespoons Mod Podge
I use a paint brush to apply the snow and add it heavily to some areas, then sprinkle with glitter. It will set up and harden in about an hour but let it sit overnight to completely dry down.
I’ll use a button for the top, painting it gray and then adding snow and glitter.
This is all there is to creating an easy, rustic Christmas tree with sparkle!! It will add a rustic but elegant look to your decor!!
