I love to keep all of my material scraps for various DIY projects and I was so excited to pull them out for these patriotic inspired pieces! These material scrap flag dough bowl fillers are so fun to create you might not be able to stop!
First off, I’ll create the flag using two pieces of cotton material measuring approximately 5.25 inches by 4 inches. I’ll pull strings from each side to create a fringe around the flag and then use hot glue to secure the pieces together.
Next I’ll add some Polyfil to the flag and close the last small opening with some hot glue.
At this point the edges can be darkened with wax or distress ink if you’d like to darken the material a bit. I’ll use some red and blue material scraps to glue to the front of the flag. This is my favorite part and allows you to add any fun element you’d like to make these little flags your own!
Finish off the material scrap flag dough bowl fillers with a rusty safety pin and tag. I have a short tutorial here showing how I create my tags ahead of time to use on my DIY projects.
