Easy Dollar Tree Wood Slice Flower

I get so excited when I spot something new at Dollar Tree!! How about you? Wood slices are always great to keep on hand, so when I saw three different kinds I bought one of each!! As I played around with the different styles I discovered the makings of a pretty flower. Let’s get started creating this easy Dollar Tree wood slice flower!

Dollar Tree wood slices

First things first, I want to lay all the wood slices out to form a flower. I’ll be using two of the smaller, round wood slices, and fourteen of the longer wood slices.

This will be the first layer but I need to glue it before adding the second and final layer. I’ll add hot glue between the petals enough to hold it together long enough to flip the flower over.

Now that the flower is flipped I can add more hot glue to the backside and reinforce the flower structure.

One last step will secure the pieces of the flower together. These Dollar Tree popsicle sticks will work perfectly!

Add a little paint…

I want to keep this flower on the neutral side, but it still needs some paint so I’m using Waverly chalk paint in Ivory. I’m not going for full coverage, so just lightly brushing it on.

Second layer coming up…

Now it’s time to add seven more “petals” on top. I chose the larger wood slices from the package for the bottom and seven slightly smaller wood slices for the top. I also added another small circular wood slice to the center.

Finally I need to add more paint to this easy Dollar Tree wood slice flower and Distress ink in Walnut Stain to the edges.
