Valentine’s Day is coming and who doesn’t like to add a fun pop of the holiday to their home decor?? I don’t like to spend a ton of money for holiday decor, so coming up with ways to decorate on a budget (like this one) is a must!! With a little help from Dollar Tree I’m showing you how to make Valentine’s Day glittered hearts with paper rosettes that will be a beautiful touch anywhere in your home!!
This little project begins with these wood hearts from Dollar Tree. I’ll be using a large heart, about 4 inches, and a smaller heart from the package, about 1 1/2 inches. If you’re not able to find the hearts at Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby has them as well. Add a liberal amount Mod Podge to both hearts and then glitter. I’ll be using red and pink glitter on these.
Finally, I’m spraying these hearts with some Dollar Tree spray glue after they are glittered. It helps keep the glitter from coming off so easily.
Once the hearts are glittered they can be be set aside to dry while you create the paper rosette. Use any scrapbook paper you like and cut a 4 1/2″ by 5″ piece.
Next, fold the piece of paper accordion style and then cut it into 5 one inch sections as shown below.
Now use a hot glue gun to begin gluing the pieces together, side by side.
Once all the pieces are glued together pull the two ends to each other and glue them together.
Press the center down so all the points meet in the middle and add hot glue. Press all points inward to make sure they are glued.
Putting it all together….
How pretty is this???? To finish it I’ll be adding an embellishment on top, a card stock swash.
How pretty is this little piece?? I’m a sucker for a red and pink combo too!! Will you give these Valentine’s Day glittered hearts with paper rosettes a try? Be sure to let me know!
