Easy DIY Dollar Tree Beaded Pedestal Tray

You just never know what you will find at the Dollar Tree y’all!! Recently my sweet friend found some beautiful wood beads and asked if I wanted any. I am so glad I said yes because they were perfect to finish off the CUTEST little project that also used another Dollar Tree find, the bamboo cutting board!! When used together they made the perfect little beaded pedestal tray that I can’t wait to show you!!

I’m in love with this piece and it’s farmhouse feel. No-one will guess it’s made from Dollar Tree finds. As a matter of fact, I think they’ll ask you where you bought it!! Let’s talk about what supplies you’ll need!!

Supplies needed….

  • Dollar Tree Bamboo Cutting Board
  • Dollar Tree Wood Beads or other wood beads
  • White Chalk Paint
  • Antiquing Wax
  • Hot Glue Gun\Glue Sticks
  • Finial Caps (Mine came from Walmart)

I’m starting with the finial caps and I’ll be using four for the feet of the pedestal. I’ll wipe each one with the antiquing wax and set them aside to dry.

I love how the wax settles in all of the nooks and crannies of the finial cap!!

Next up I’ll paint the top and sides of the bamboo cutting board with white chalk paint.

Once the paint is completely dry I’ll use a sanding block to distress the board a bit and give it a smoother finish. This step is completely optional.

Now I’ll begin gluing the beads onto the board, being careful to keep all the beads pushed close together. Try to not over-do with the hot glue because you will able to see it on the finished tray if you use too much. I’ll start on a corner as shown below.

When I get to the end I’ll snip off the section of bead string I didn’t use. This was a tight fit so be sure all of your beads fit snuggly together as you glue them down.

Moving on, I’ll snip off the know and end of string from the end I began with and then butt the other beaded end up to it.

Now I’m ready to dry brush some white paint onto the beads.

Adding some age and character….

Finally we’ll add some antiquing wax and then the finials on the bottom of the beaded pedestal tray.
