Little Wood Truck Spring Sign

Hey friends!! I have another cute little DIY I can’t wait to share with you! On a recent trip to Dollar General I saw that they are starting to put out their spring items. And guess what, the little truck is back again! This time it has eggs in the back, but I’m thinking I would like to add flowers for spring and make a little wood truck spring sign!

I want to keep the truck intact, but I also want to get rid of the eggs so I can add some flowers. The first thing I do is use a ruler to draw a pencil line along where I want to cut with the box blade. Next, I cut a line with the blade on the front and back side. The cut will not go completely through, but it will make it easier to cut with the shears. Finally, I use the shears to cut off small sections of the eggs and then I used a sander to smooth out the rough edge.

Once the eggs are removed I want to add some scrapbook paper. I’ll trace the shape of the truck on the back of the paper, cut it out, and then use Mod Podge to apply it. I wanted to give the trucks a little more dimension, so I cut circles from corrugated paper and brushed some black paint on for the tires.

I add little rosettes to the center of the tires for a final touch!

I’ll add some artificial flowers to the back of the truck by gluing them on the with a bead of hot glue.

For this next step you can use vinyl letters or stickers to add “Fresh Flowers” on the side of the truck.

Now that the truck is all finished you can use it as it is or add it to a sign like I’m going to. I’ll make an inexpensive sign from paint stir sticks and then attach my truck, a bow, and the word “welcome” that came from Dollar Tree. You can see how I made the stir stick sign here.
