Spring is on the way and I may have a teeny, tiny bit of spring fever. Creating something simple and pretty for my decor will definitely help! I’ll start with a Dollar Tree candlestick to create this simple spring bird nest on a pedestal!

First, I want to distress this candlestick a bit by adding some crackle paste. I’ll use a Dollar Tree make-up tool and paintbrush to apply.

The paste did not adhere well to the middle of the candlestick, but I have to say I love how it turned out!

Next I’ll add some Behr wax to darken the candlestick and really bring out that crackle! I’ll add a spray top coat to prevent further chipping.
The Nest…
Now I’ll use some leftover grapevine, a small nest from Hobby Lobby and a small bit of Spanish moss to create a bird’s nest.

I’ll start by attaching some grapevine to the base of the candlestick. Add the small nest on top of the grapevine. I’ll fill in the edges with small bits of Spanish moss.

Lastly I’ll wrap a section of this green metal garland around the base of the candlestick. I’ll attach the two ends of the garland by bending the ends of the wire around each other.

Now, what’s a nest without eggs? I have three small eggs from Hobby Lobby that I’ll add to the nest.

Oh my goodness I just LOVE this pop of green!! I’ll glue a strip of material around the base, attaching with hot glue, and then add a material messy bow.

Look at all that crackled and chippy goodness!!

I love everything about this simple spring bird nest on a Pedestal, even the blue of the candlestick peeking through! What do you think about this one?
