Have you shopped the Christmas ornaments at Walmart? I have recently fallen in love with their Santa ornaments, especially those that have a vintage look! I bought my favorite because I knew I wanted to include it on a Christmas project, which turns out to be this pretty oversized Santa ornament!

Here’s What I’m Using…
- Walmart Santa Ornament
- Dollar Tree Bamboo Cutting Board
- Waverly Ivory Paint
- Red Paint
- White Glue
- Greenery Sprig/Large Red Berry (Dollar Tree)
- Ribbon
- Waverly Antiquing Wax
- Distress Ink
- Wire
First, I want to give the bamboo board I’m using as my surface a nice crackle! I’ll paint it front and back with my red paint.

Allow the red paint to dry completely and then add a light coat of white glue on top.

Next, and this part is important, add a coat of Ivory paint on top of the WET glue.

Once you begin to add heat you will see the amazing transformation begin!! This is my favorite part!!

I just LOVE this effect!! It adds so much to a piece!

Next, I sanded the edges of the board and then added Waverly antiquing wax to the surface and the edges to darken and give an aged appearance.

Add Distress Ink for an even darker appearance. I’ll add a wire hanger to the top by drilling holes in the top and wrapping the ends of the wire around a paintbrush.

Finally I’m ready to add the Santa and a bow. The Santa had a hook on top so I removed it and then used hot glue along with E-6000 to adhere it to the board. So pretty!

Wow!! I love it so far!

I love how this oversized Santa ornament turned out and that $1.98 Walmart ornament has been brought to life! Let me know if you try this one!
