I grabbed some Dollar Tree icing bags for my spring carrots that I love to make and then realized I could create candy corn for the fall and Halloween. This Dollar Tree icing bag candy corn piece is so easy to create, and if you make several they are great for bowl fillers and tiered trays!!

What you need…
- Dollar Tree icing bags
- Rubber bands
- Dollar Tree shreds (white)
- Paper Plate
- Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray (Carved Pumpkin & Mustard Seed)
- Ribbon

Coloring the shreds…
The first thing I want to do is color my shreds orange and yellow. If you can find the color of shreds that you need you can skip this step. I was unable to find orange and yellow shreds so I just colored my own. I pulled some of the shreds onto two plates, spraying one pile Mustard Seed yellow and the second pile Carved Pumpkin orange. Use tongs to flip the piles over in order to get the color throughout. Set the plates aside for about an hour and let the shreds dry completely.

Stuffing the bags…
Start with the white shreds, pushing them down into the tip. I used the end of a marker to help. I’m also using less white than orange and yellow.

Next, add the orange and then the yellow. Press each section down tightly as you go.

Once all the shreds are added, secure the top with a rubber band.

Last but not least, add a pretty bow using material strips or ribbon.
