Here’s another fun patriotic piece that I had to share since it combines two of my favorite things, the Dollar Tree cookie sheet and red, white, and blue!! I’m using a clearance sign, cookie sheet, paint, distressing ink, and wax to create this one. I’ll also add some wood stars to this Dollar Tree faux metal distressed American flag to finish it off!! Let’s see what we can create!!

Prepping the surface…

This DIY is pretty simple and the first thing I’m going to do is paint the surface of my clearance sign with white chalk paint. This took about three thick coats. I LOVE the color of the frame, so I’m not changing anything about it.
The cookie sheet…
Secondly, I’ll cut the outside trim from the cookie sheet and then cut a square from it. Then I’ll cut the remaining part into strips just like shown below.

Once this is all done, lay it on the surface of the sign to get everything just where you want it. Then just begin gluing it down with hot glue.

Now we’re ready to paint. I’m using Anita’s acrylic paint in True Red and Navy.

Once painted I want to age it a bit using Waverly wax and distress ink in walnut.

Adding the stars….
I had some small wood stars on hand so I used those in the blue square. You could use any stars you have, wood, chipboard, ect. You can find these on Amazon.

I left my stars natural, but they could be painted or stained.

All finished!! I love this one because you can distress as much or as little as you’d like!! If you like the faux metal look, be sure to check out my other project here!! What do you think? Are you a fan of distressed patriotic pieces? Let me know!!
