Mr. Word and Home and I have a secret, we run away every chance we get!! When your children are at the age of ours (19 and 16) it’s easy to become sad thinking about how quickly time passed and that they are already grown!! But, we have decided to embrace our newfound freedom and enjoy some time to ourselves every once and awhile. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE our kiddos and still do plenty with them, but sometimes it’s fun to just hop in the car, drive a couple of hours, and stay in the CUTEST little Air BNBs around for a weekend getaway!!!
This weekend we headed to Arkansas, Fayetteville to be exact!! It’s only about a two hour drive from our home and it offers beautiful scenery and hiking, two of our favorites!! Kasey booked us for two nights at the Historical Stagecoach Cottage and friends, it did not disappoint!!
Here’s how she greets you as you make your way up the drive….

You’d never guess she’s 125 years old, yep, you read that right!! She sits secluded and surrounded by beautiful trees, including gorgeous Red Buds boasting bright shades of pink!!
She was once a stagecoach stop on the historical Butterfield Trail and I can only imagine the feet that have walked these grounds and the conversations that have been held here.

Before I give you the inside tour I have to show you our favorite part of the house, this amazing front porch!!

This was our favorite spot for drinking coffee in the morning and relaxing in the evenings. It was so peaceful, with just birds singing and an occasional rooster crowing in the distance.
The cabin itself is small and cozy, about 900 square feet with one bedroom and bathroom.

A sweet little kitchen with extra attention to detail, including a “mini” charcuterie tray with my favorites, sweet/salty snacks in mason jars, and a welcoming note!!

We LOVE quaint and cozy so this little cottage was perfect for us to relax and refresh over the weekend!! There are so many extra details sprinkled inside this space!!
The extra details..

and outside….

This is the original water well. How cool is that?? So much history here!

Another view from the side porch. Can you tell we loved it??

I fell in love with this kitchen tray y’all!! I see a similar DIY in my future!!!

Seriously, I could share pictures ALL DAY LONG!! Weekend getaways are such a fun way to date your spouse and get away from the craziness of life. This place is about two hours from our home and we tend to stick with 2-3 hour drives when we sneak away for a couple of days. We dream of someday having our own little BNB where couples can relax and refresh, so we’ll just call this research!! (HA!)
What do you think?? Isn’t she the cutest?? We have grown to love Air BNBs and how unique they can be!!
Do you love mini get aways as much as we do??
