I found this frame at Walmart for $5.00 and fell in love with the shape and style! As I looked at it I noticed that the print had been attached upside down, but I decided to grab it anyway and give it a little make-over. I envisioned an Easter project, a canvas frame make-over with a pretty gold cross.

The first thing to do is remove the ribbon hanger and cover the existing painting with paint so that I can create a cross.

Next, I’ll begin with Waverly Sandstone to cover the existing print. This will take about two to three coats.

Now I want to add a little more color to the canvas using a Milky White and Slate Blue colors. I’ll just add both colors and blend until I reach the desired look.

Finally, I’ll use joint compound to create a cross on the canvas. The joint compound will need to dry overnight.

After the joint compound is all dry I’ll be ready to add some gold paint and accents.

I’m just in love with the gold cross and gold accents on the frame. It really makes this piece pop! I’d love to know what you think of the gold and cross combination. Let me know if you’ll try this one!
