I never get tired of creating with the Dollar Tree pizza pan because they are so versatile and easy to transform. I’ve created some of the cutest door hangers and this newest creation of the Dollar Tree pizza pan gingerbread man is no different!
First, since I plan on using this DIY in my kitchen at Christmas along with my gingerbread, I want to paint it a pretty gingerbread color. I’ll be using my favorite spray paint Rust-Oleum in the color Down To Earth.
Once I get about three coats of the spray paint onto the pan and it’s dry, I’ll add a gingerbread face. To make this step easier I’m sharing a free printable that can be used to trace the face onto the pan. I’ll print the face out, rub chalk on the back of it, and then use a pencil to trace the outline of the mouth and eyes. This will leave a chalk outline onto the pan. Be sure the face is exactly where you want it because the pencil tracing will leave a light line in the spray paint under the chalk line.
Now I’m ready to paint the face using red and black acrylic paint.
When the face is painted on and dry, I’ll add the white signature gingerbread border! Paint can be easily used for this part too, but I think some white rick rack around the edge will be perfect! I’ll add a drop of hot glue to secure an end of the rick rack, then begin to glue the rick rack all the around the pan securing with craft glue.
Adding Final Touches
When this step is complete the Dollar Tree pizza pan gingerbread man is almost finished! I’ll add a bow and hanger last. I found the cutest gingerbread man wired ribbon at Hobby Lobby along with this simple burlap ribbon that I think will compliment it nicely.
Lastly I’ll add a few freckles on the cheeks! I usually drill holes to attach a hanger but jute can be glued to the back of the pan too.
