Easy Air Dry Clay Ghost for Halloween

I can’t wait to show you how EASY and CUTE these clay ghosts are for Halloween! This easy air dry clay ghost would be so sweet on your mantle, and it’s budget friendly too! Come on in and let me show you how to create your own in this short tutorial post!

First, let’s go over the supplies needed for this easy project. We’ll need a floral foam ball (1.4″) from Dollar Tree, a small glass candle holder from Dollar Tree, and some air dry clay. I’m using Modelite clay for this project.

Next, use hot glue or another permanent glue to attach the foam ball to the top of the candlestick.

Now you’ll need to roll out a good amount of the air dry clay as flat as possible. When it’s rolled out to the desired thickness, gently lay it on top of the foam ball to see how far it will hang down. If it’s not long enough, add more clay and roll out again.

Add a drop of glue to the top of the foam ball and then lay the flattened clay on top, lightly pressing down to make the clay overlap and hang correctly. Keep in mind that once the clay touches itself it will stick together.

When you have the clay hanging exactly like you’d like you can add a face to the ghost. I’m using my favorite Dollar Tree tool but you can also use the end of a paintbrush.

Finally, you can add any details to you air dry clay ghost, such as a hat, bow, bowtie, ect. I’ll be using the air dry clay to create a small bow, and once it has dried for a few hours it will be ready to paint.
