Warning!!! Once you make these peppermints you are going to be addicted!! I’m new to the fake bake world, but I’m already LOVING these projects!! These little fake bake peppermints look so real you’ll have to warn people!! The look I’m going for is the Bob’s Sweet Stripes soft peppermint.
What I used….
- CraZArt Modelite white clay
- Red paint – I used Apple Barrel Bright Red
- Clear Tape
- Cello Wrap
- Wax Paper
First up I’ll lay a piece of wax paper out and spoon out a small amount of clay, about a spoon full. Roll it into a ball until it’s not sticky anymore.
Roll it on the wax paper and begin to form it into a peppermint shape.
These will need to air dry for about 48 hours. Be sure to turn them over about half way through the drying process (24 hours) so the underside dries as well. Once they are dry I like to put them on a skewer for easier painting.
Adding the paint…
Wrapping it up….
Now that all of the stripes are painted and completely dry, I’m ready to wrap with some cellophane. You can buy rolls of cellophane just about anywhere, but Hobby Lobby always has it. I’m cutting about a 4 X 4 square to wrap each peppermint.
Lay the peppermint on the square and roll it until the cellophane is overlapping and then add a small piece of clear tape.
Twist the ends and secure with small drops of hot glue.
These are so sweet and they will be perfect for Christmas decor! I can envision these fake bake peppermints as a garland on a tree like this one in my kitchen!!
